Hi guys. I'm a newbie from Ca but hoping you won't hold it against me too much. I'm a country boy from the Northern Ca foothills so hoping that helps. I've been an elk hunter for 10 years. I've hunted Idaho but not any other states. I've predominantly hunted with a rifle but did try one year with a bow with no success. I've taken a couple of decent public land DIY bulls and have had a couple of empty trips but all were fun and enjoyable. My finances have improved this last year(read ex wife is getting less child support after one turned 18) and I'm hoping to start hunting elk and deer out of state every year. As such I'm starting to play the preference points game and planning on rotating states every year or two as I build points and can get into good areas. Anyways, happy hunting to all.
