New Rest Recommendation

The one issue with the Octane Hostage rests is the bristles. They are not made of the same material as a whisker biscuit. They will wear oddly, and usually to one side or the other on the lower support bristles. The effect of that uneven wear is the arrow will not stay tuned to the bow. Groups tend to open up a lot as a sign of the misaligned rest.

I really like my ripcord code red. I've shot them for a few years. QAD are great too. Can't go wrong with a full containment for spot and stalk and great long range accuracy.

I set up more bows with whisker biscuits than anything, but I personally really like my ripcord. eight years on the same setup with no problems at all. Can't beat that.

The Hamskea is the toughest I've found and has by far the best adjustments. No plastic pieces either, so I'm a big fan of that.

I shoot the ripcord red on my bowtech experience and I have had no trouble at all getting it tuned right on the money. I hear what guys say about having a fixed rest, but what I have trained myself to do on every shot is to lock the rest in the up position as soon as I nock my arrow, this way the arrow is already in full containment before I ever draw the bow. At that point you just can not beat the advantages provided by the drop away rest. One of the problems with some of the early drop away rests was the rest would "rebound" and then inadvertently hit your arrow, but with today's technology and a properly set up bow you can't go wrong.

QAD Ultra Rest HD - never had an issue, works every time, manual or pull setting, great groups. I am not a gear junkie that switches out 3 or 4 times to try the new flavor so all I can say is this unit is solid.

I really like my ripcord also. However the qad is just a little easier to engage manually than the ripcord but they are essentially the same rest.

I love my whisker bis!! I had the same worries about long range accuracy but instead upgraded to Blazer Vanes 2-3in on my arrows, upgraded my release to a Scott Archery Wolverine and I hold tight groups at 60 yards.

QAD and RipCord are almost the same. Both very good full containment rests. However, the QAD allows you to slowly let draw down and will continue to hold the arrow. This is a great feature that the Ripcord does not have. That being said, why would you pay more for a rest that does less....Oh yeah, advertising dollars. :)
