LOL no I didnt think you thought that was good. It matters when you have to shoot now or maybe never and the rangefinder wont read! That is why I got a Leica 1200.

I have a Nikon monarch rangefinder, it's ok. I use it for archery mostly. It will range out to about 500 yards consistently. The funny thing is it won't give me a range on a black cow. I was messing around when I first got it and was ranging some cows out antelope hunting. I could get a range on the brown cow standing right next to it, but it wouldn't range the black cow.

Thanks to everyone for your posts. It seems to confirm I need another Leica. I'm gonna purchase the 1000-R. Anyone see them on sale anywhere???
most I found are $599.

I found a refurbished one for $479 here http://www.focuscamera.com/leica-rangemaster-crf-1000-r-33643.html

And this guy is selling i new on ebay for a buy it now price of $499 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Leica-Rangemaster-1000-CRF-Black-/251430425691?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8a6bd45b

Maybe the best option is a demo from cameralandny. http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/site.pl?page=40535 I've bought demo products from them before and have been extremely pleased.
