New Mexico Elk Hunt

I have just been notified that I was drawn for my first elk hunt. It will be in Unit 55, Villa Vista I believe. Anyone hunted there?

Unit 55A Valle Vidal? Wow, congratulations on one of the best elk hunts in New Mexico. I've never been there but I've heard great things about it. What weapon and season did you draw?

I drew a rifle tag. Oct 24-29. I am very excited.

I turkey hunted there in 2011 and saw more elk than a mind can fathom. I think 300 in bulls are the norm with occasional 325+ The sheer # of elk is something to behold! Good luck great tag.

Congrats on the tag, I drew a Oct 17-21 rifle tag for Valle Vidal as well. I have found its hard to find someone who has hunted it because of the scarcity of the tag.
