Hey folks...Finally got the time to join you all. I live in the middle of New Mexico GMU 16a and know 16b and 16d really well also. I love offering advice and help to any hunters coming to the area.

Welcome to the forum! I hunted all around unit 16 last year on a mule deer hunt. Mainly south of the VLA area. Beautiful country you have there. Great elk populations and a lot of big bulls!!!!

Welcome, I have yet to see that country but that will be changing in December. My grandson has a youth tag for 16c. Do you hunt out of state?

Welcome. I worked on the Gila NF for a few weeks in 2007 prescribed burning around the Quemado area. Loved it so much down there. We horn hunted a few days in late March and found about 30 Elk horns in a few hours one day. Can't wait to come back.

Hello Sir and thanks for the message. I drew 16d second archery season and could really use some help. Any thoughts you could share would be greatly appreciated. Specifically interested in finding water and getting away from people. Not afraid to walk and will be headed that way to scout in July August. Thanks again.
