I'm not only new to the forum but new to hunting. I'm from Philadelphia, PA and grew up fishing and camping but never got the chance to hunt as my grandfather grew sick and father was not in the picture. I then spent 8 years in the Marine Corps and became a lover of the outdoors. I was medically discharged and an injury kept me from doing a lot. Last year I decided to change that and took the safety course and purchased my first hunting license in Pennsylvania. I am eligible for a free license, but since it's cheap in PA, I decided not to bother with paperwork. I was only able to get out twice last year. Once with a shot gun and once with a rifle. Saw doe, no bucks. Now I've been researching, reading and watching shows like Eastman's. Hoping to finally get into the lifestyle like the rest of my family.

Philly doesn't have much to offer but Pennsylvania as a whole has great hunting. Hope to take my first whitetail this year.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service. Lots of good bowhunting opportunities in the Philly suburbs, what I hear. Knock on some doors and you might find a gold mine.

Greetings from Maine. I'm new this forum and I don't claim to be the next coming of Kit Carson. But a couple of words of advise. Pre season scouting is a good idea but deer change habits as the season goes on. There may be lots of sign in October in an area and then nothing when the shooting starts. Get up early. Stay till last light. Take a break at noon. And finally repeat my mantra Patience and Persistance
