We don’t hunt our retrievers until the weather gets cold enough to make the gators inactive. Sometimes that means hunting the first half of the season without a dog.

Snapping turtles hibernate under the ice all winter and can be somewhat active at times. They are able to absorb enough oxygen through their skin to survive
