I just purchased an NV cougar tag. Doing research and trying to get some good areas mapped out. I prefer to hunt western NV, but im open to other units in the state. Can anyone share their experiences with a NV cougar hunt? Units, access, calling, anything!? Feel free to PM me.

Thank you for the help

Around the Topaz Lake area I’ve heard is good.

Pretty much where there is deer there is lions. I’ve tried calling them a few times but I think you need to find a good concentration of lions for it to work or a very hot track then try the calling. Most efficient way is with hounds.

Yep, pretty much what IKC said. It's almost impossible to specifically hunt for a mtn. lion without dogs. I've only seen 3 during daylight hours in almost 50 years of being out in deer/lion country.
I have heard of people calling for mtn. lions but I certainly wouldn't want to do that in the dark since they're mostly nocturnal. If you were able to fool one into thinking you were prey, you would never see or hear it coming.
Good luck on your quest for a cat.
