I have hunted the area before for deer not elk. Ive heard horse back is the way to get to the big bulls in that country.

How long ago did you hunt Jarbridge? Rifle or bow? I have been looking at it for maybe a deer cow elk combo with my bow. What were the deer numbers like?

I read somewhere that the elk tend to stick to the east side of the wilderness area??? Haven't decided if I'm putting in for the archery tag or first rifle.

Not to sure about the east side. Have you spoke to the Biologist? They are very helpful and very willing to give you info on were the Elk are and when for your season. I was very surprised to find out that not to many hunters talk to the fish and game in a new area that has been drawn. More then 3 I spoke too in the past sat me down over the phone with a map in front of me and gave me very specific location to look. Give it a try,

ya i tried fish and game last year for an antelope hunt and got very general info. Have also been told to "find it online". I figured out what i am doing for deer, antelope, cal sheep. now to figure out desert sheep.

I will try that with Biologist its my experience, albeit limited, that they are better to talk to than fish and game more willing with information but it could just be my experience also. I read the part about the elk sticking to the east part in an article about the Jarbridge wilderness, the article wasn't geared towards hunting but rather hiking and camping and it just mentioned that about the elk when talking about wildlife that you can expect to see

My buddy is a guide for Cottonwood Ranch, they pretty much stick to the Wilderness for Deer and Elk. If you need some specifics shoot me a message and I'll see what i can find out for ya

Ok thanks Woodtick I'll be sure and do that if I draw it!
I have heard good things about Cottonwood Ranch outfitters, maybe someday I'll be able to afford a guided hunt

Hey guys I'm interested in talking to some Bio's about a certain area in NV. Where do you go to find contact info?

I hunted bull elk in 2005 and saw lots of elk. Didn't see lots of deer but I did see some. Plenty of elk in all parts of the Jarbidge. I've been on the East and West side and there is sign everywhere. I was just in the Jarbidge Wilderness on July 4th. I really love the place. fatrooster.
