Jeez I hope it's not the same as bull. Heck NDOW was giving away cow elk tags this year if you drew a certain deer tag.

Yep every Tom dick and Harry I talked to had deer and cow tags. I never saw or heard of anyone taking an elk though. At least not where I was hunting.

The cow tags weren't "given" away you still had to pay for them if you drew those certain deer tags. The regs say that the applicant will be charged the fee for the cow elk tag if they draw their deer tag.

The tag I hunted on was fairly early. I got my cow opening morning...I know they're there! I didn't hear of anybody else who was willing to do what I had to do to get one. They were at the top of the mountain..

I've seen posts from quite a few guys here that aren't willing to work too hard for a cow elk. Seems that if they can't shoot it from the road or drive the atv to it they're not going to shoot one. If they are not willing to put in the effort they should not put in for those cow tags anf leave them for those of us willing to work hard.

Lax, NV is big country with low elk numbers. Not like CO and WY, where you'll take one out with your pickup if you're not paying attention. Lol

I had a late season cow tag finally found them after a few set backs and a few days.

We actually drove up onto a herd of at least 100. Tons of spikes close to 50% of the herd.

Long story short let my partner have first shot. Found the herd again the next day got mine and he got another shot but all shots were at 400 yds. Too many eyes I guess. Had a blast hopefully these tags don't get too popular it'd be nice to have this as a go to hunt every year.
