Drew the rut tag for mule deer, not looking for a spot, looking for antler expectations for the unit, what a good buck for the unit scores, what a monster buck for the unit is. Any suggestions or outfitters that would know would be great too. Thanks.

Thank you extractor! I will see if I can contact him. A couple of the locals i have contacted spend that time of year on the Utah side to the south. Bigger bucks to look at.

That's a great tag. There are some monster bucks in those areas.
The Marques brothers at Bull Ridge Guide Service live in Ely and the have been around for a long time. I have never hunted with them but their hunters have taken a lot of giant elk and deer.
Congrats on the tag and let us know how you do.

You can find very large bucks there in 190's.

Thanks cold. That's what I have been after, animal size. I don't want to expect something unreasonable or shoot something too small. If any has some pics of 114 115 bucks that would be great. I'm not looking to steal some1s hot spot.

Here's a pic from 2013 that should get your blood boiling. It was taken with Bull Ridge in 114-115 muzzleloader season.8de81f_6593f2c656934a03b474a17300c20976.jpg

Thanks gr8! I seen that pic on their site. Congrats on a great buck.
It's not my buck but I have seen a few that could have been twins of this buck.
We're taking a family camping trip to that area next month. I'll check out the conditions and maybe get some pics. My son has an archery deer tag there but it will take a backseat to his rifle antelope tag.

Gr8bawana, I believe that buck was taken in 221. The guy in the picture has written several articles for Huntin Fool and I had that same photo in my notes for Unit 221. I may be wrong, but I know that the hunter in the photo drew a muzzleloader tag in Unit 221 in 2013. The buck scored 173.

Yeppers, it looks more like a September photo than a November pic too. 221 season is September, 114-115 in November.
That's what I thought, he has part of a summer coat on. No caption in the photo I came across on line. Do u have any idea what to look for Umpqua? I was there 25 years ago.

I have not hunted the area. Some awfully nice bucks have come from that hunt, but with that said I generally hear the hunt is not the quality it was in the past. I am sitting on a pile of points and I've considered the hunt many times, but haven't heard enough consistency to pull the trigger.
