Need some advice

Hello everyone I did not draw an elk tag in Arizona this year so thought I would give the beautiful state of Idaho a try.
I am not looking for honey holes. I am seeking info where I should focus for a fun hunt with a chance at branch antler bull. I have never hunted Idaho, but been there several times in the summer. My father hunted up around Yellowpine many years ago. I will put in the time & research just asking for a starting point to focus where we can get away from the crowds, enjoy the country & see some animals. Thanks in advance for any info. I can trade info about hunting in Arizona as well.

You should start by researching harvest statistics, draw odds and such. That is what I did last year, and luckily it worked out for me. I just picked the best looking hunts and odds and went for it. Got a nice 8x7 bull!
Same thing this year, I managed to draw two cow tags (myself and son) in Arizona.. Still waiting to see which unit, but I have a good idea.

Calbuck: This is good advice! Pick a State, do your research and go hunt. I have hunted Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, as well as My home State Washington using this method. Works great. Great sense of fulfillment when You find the Elk. I try to find more remote areas with limited access. If archery North facing hill sides can be good places to start.
