Thanks guys..... the ram is going to be on my cabin wall. And yes Joseph, Bighorn sheep are native to Nebraska ( NW Corner)but were wiped out in the 1860s. Recent efforts with re-introduced sheep in the 1980s or 1990s established a breeding herd (now several herds) in the NW part of the state. If memory serves me right I think some sheep were trapped and taken to Nebraska from your area ( BC ). Recently Nebraska traded a bunch of wild turkeys to Montana for some bighorn sheep. Again I hope my memory is right and hope I am citing correct facts. The sheep seem to be doing great but bouts with pneumonia hold the numbers down. Also a established mountain lion population in that part of the state adds to the frustration of re-establishment of sheep in their native range.

Reintroduced after being hunted out in 1800's. Two tags in 2015. One sold at auction for $130K and the other was awarded to a resident in the drawing. Barbara Sackman shot the auction ram, her 29th wild sheep but first bighorn. It scored 173 5/8. I think she might have a little money in the family. She also won the Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award in 2015.

Thanks for the reply, good to see the reintroduction is working to the point of actually having a season. You must really have at least one lucky horseshoe hidden somewhere to draw that tag.

Correct Druss. Fort Robinson was where I got the ram. About a mile from the Fort Buildings. Halfway between the Fort and Crawford. The ewes come to those bluffs for breeding season. The herd was halfway between them bluffs and the HWY. I got within 100yds of the bunch sneaking up a gully and watched as the ram kept chasing off a smaller ram. The big ram even bred a hot ewe while I waited for him to clear for a good shot. Really cool!!!!!!
