The real Northern Ca
After hunting my butt off at higher elevations with no luck at all, my daughter and I had permission to hunt some private land today. Because of my work schedule I could only go today and thurs, she could only go today because of college classes. Every thing was going our way this morning, wind was in our favor ground was moist and very quiet. As we slowly worked through an area I could see a deer about 100 yards away, head down feeding away from us. Alisha got her gun up on shooting sticks while I watched with bino's. I could clearly see his "male parts" but he kept his head down for about two minutes, when he finally looked up I could see he was a nice fork, and Alisha said, "He's a fork, can I shoot him?" I told her to wait, that another had to be close by and was probably bigger. I started looking all around with the binos but wasn't finding anything, all the while Alisha kept asking if she could shoot. I asked her if she was really sure, that we had all day, and she said yes she wanted to shoot. I told her go ahead and she fired, hitting a little back but a good hit. At the shot a 4 point jumps up from behind a large rock at about 85 yards, we couldn't see him at all till he got up, and Alisha said, "Shoot that buck!" Meanwhile her buck had walked towards the 4 point and even though he was getting wobbly, I told her to hit him again, and she did, knocking the buck down. At her second shot, the 4 point took off, but he stopped about 150 yards away when I grunted at him and I shot him. It was a great day, but I sure wish she had waited and taken the 4 point herself. Alisha was happy as heck with her buck, and she will be away for college for the next couple years. I'm lucky to have had this day with her and these memories that will last us forever.

Pretty cool, my daughter comes back from college every year to hunt deer. The hunts that the kids go on with me each year are some of the best. Congrats on some great memories and two great bucks to boot!
