In the beginning stages of my 300 WM build, thought it might be interesting to hear what type muzzle crown others have had cut. I'm having a resessed target crown cut with 45* shoulders, what have you guys done and why?

Special crown angles are a thing of the past, they don't really effect accuracy in any way. Crowns were only developed to help protect the opening of the muzzle from being damaged.

My preference is a simple flat, recessed muzzle crown.

I agree whole heartedly, the 45* angle on the shoulders is to soften the right angles at the OD of the barrel and the OD of the resessed area.

Ive had/used a recessed crown on some rifles but the 11 deg crown seems to work well. Why would you want the outer edge/diameter chamfered by 45 deg ? are you adding a suppressor and threads as well ?

This is what i had in mind....just enough to break the right angles.
