Bunch of awsome bucks there.. That tailgate pic is cool 👊👍 !
:) Thanks! Not quite like the giants you hold out for, but I sure was happy with every one of them.
The tailgate pic brings back great memories for sure. Not too bad for a public land OR hunt :)
The first two bucks (mounted) were from CO, then one from ID and two from NV. Hope to draw a few more and get lucky in the next few years, but it's getting tougher it seems.
A lot of my bucks from home here in OR are blacktails, so when I draw a muley tag it is kind of a treat.

Yeah the tailgate pic brings back memories of when we did not put all our energy into finding then hunting one buck but “filled the truck” around Eagle, Glenwood, and Basalt.. Heck now I get a deer every 4-5 years if I am lucky. Back then grandparents, uncles, my dad, and when I was old enough I joined in.. They are all dead now except for my pops who is 82 and I doubt he will get out for deer again but we hunt cow elk every year.

Times change.. Commercialization of every aspect of hunting lately is weird as now folks will pay 20 to 30+k finder fee for a gov tag type buck.. Is what it is but definitely not what it was….

Well said, I hope your Dad gets to hunt with you for a long time yet. I sure miss hunting with mine!

Speaking of fathers. My dads last real mule deer hunt he had been gathering points while hunting archery for deer or on lo tags for well 19 years and he decided on the best Co unit in near Glenwood Springs where he grew up for a 4th season hunt.

He used the same rifle he has since he was 16 a pre 64 Winchester 30-06.. We shot quite a bit and he was good to 350 but he was not comfortable past that distance. I scouted 12 -15 days before the season and found several 190” type bucks but one monster stood out.. So a giant or bust it was!! Such a fun hunt as we passed on several bucks over that 190” mark but this was the reason…

Closest we could get was 432 yds. W my gun and a 24 power scope that’s a chip shot. W his Winchester he would not shoot and said let’s get closer so I took pics of him.. We tried to get closer but never got a shot.. It was a challenge as he was 77 at the time.. No regrets as it was a great hunt chasing a true giant on the last real deer hunt we got in.

A local sent me pic of him before last winter. Hunters never got this buck. He went downhill and did not return this past winter.. I put him at 34-35” wide to the stickers and very well north of 220”…..
