Just checking about lottery chances for mule deer. I'm still relatively new to Wyoming game lottery.........My partner and I are nonresident, and put in for a group hunt, with both of us putting one buck and one doe tag as our first choice. My question is whether putting the two deer as a first choice will affect our chances of getting it picked? It would seem that it would not negatively affect our chances, right? It would seem that we'll either get picked or not, and putting two deer as a choice would not impact the odds. Am I right?

Getting excited about it already.........

First off, it's called a draw, not a lottery! Second, the two draws are independent of each other and you could draw the buck and not the doe, the doe and not the buck, draw both or not draw any. Do you mean by "group hunt" that you partnered together so you'll either both get drawn for your tag or not, or did you apply separately, but for the same tags? Also, did you notice that you could check a box on the doe application section saying you don't want the tag if you applied for a buck tag in the same area and don't get picked? If you didn't and don't want to take the chance of just drawing the doe tags, the party leader can go back in and make changes to the applications until June 3. If you have any questions I haven't answered or need help, just fire away on here or send me a PM and I'd be glad to help wherever I can.

Thanks, guys. I told you I was new!

We're mainly going for meat and the time outdoors, and would not be dissapointed if we didn't get a trophy, so we'll take our chances with getting either the buck or doe. We made sure that in the application we were partnered together for both tags..............I do notice that the tags had separate ID numbers, so what you're saying makes sense. They're independendent of each other.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll also put in $10 for a chance on a super tag on an elk. Why not?
