Mule Deer in the velvet?!?!

I have never hunted the August Archery season here in AZ. I was curious how many bow hunters out there prefer this season, and why?

I have a buddy that hunts up in Northern AZ every year during August. He lives in Prescott and gets out to scout a lot. He claims the deer are easier to pattern that time of year.
