Mule Deer hunting in area 125

I am just curious about this area, and was wondering what all of you thought of it. Not looking for any specifics, just whether or not you think it is a good area, what class of bucks call this area home and if you would like, post up some pics of deer that have been harvested in this area. What kind of country is in this area? are there alot of roads? private land? Thinking of applying for this area in the future and was just curious about it. Thank you for any and all information. If I can help any of you with information in southwest wyoming just let me know. If you draw a 101 or 102 deer tag get a hold of me. I can show you the big deer. Thanks once again. Hey Mike. I have hunted this area several times. Its pretty deserty and wide open in the interior. The southern boundry has Gooseberry creek that has lots of deer and some nice bucks are taken every year. G&F does a good job of getting access along the creek. Deer in the 180" range are taken every year there. The east boundry has deer that frequent the farm land. Not many huge deer, but some in the 170" with very wide spreads. The area in Ten mile creek is some pretty rugged country, but will hold nice deer later in the season when they have been pushed from Otto. Fifteen mile creek holds some deer, but I think it gets hit pretty hard. I know very little about the northern and western edges.
As it is desert dominated the deer tend to have thinner beams then mountain bucks, but there some in the 32"-34" range taken every year. It is certainly fun to hunt them during the rut!!
The unit has large tracts of public and they are pretty easy to spot on your BLM maps. Many of the roads shown on the maps are not passable as that country washes out very easily and quickly.

Some places certainly get hit hard, like along Gooseberry, but you can get away from the crowds. Head north of Squaw Tits and you won't see many people. Same for Ten Mile creek. Its great country for glassing as you can cover miles and miles from the high points. I am not sure about the south face of Tatmun, but I don't think many go there either.

I lived in worland for a couple years and hunted coyotes a lot in this area. I was never able to draw a deer tag for it, but i'v seen some great bucks in the area. I was in the area last november hunting coyotes and seen more deer in the area than I could ever remember. I feel its a great area for a real trophy. And yes, there are plenty of areas to get away from the pressure!

It was a strange year. I hunt 125 almost every year and see good deer. But, this season was different. We hit it hard but just didn't see near the numbers or the quality that the area is known for. She ended up filling her tag on a smaller buck toward the end of the season. We will not be applying for 125 this year.

Elkoholic, am sending you a pm in regards to another unit in your area. Too bad to hear about your hunt, hopefully it was still a fun time! Seems to be an ongoing trend for alot of units tho.
