In the MRS section there are tables which have the best hunts with information like draw odds and success rates. One thing I am confused on is the "public land %" collumn. Is that the amount of public land in that particular unit or does that column show the percentage of animals taken on public land in that unit? Can someone shed some light?

That is the % of public land in the unit. It would be nice to know stats on animals harvested on public vs private land but I dont know of any states that publish stats on that.

I think it was in the nevada MRS for unit 061 or 071 it said only 11% public land......or maybe that was the percentage of wilderness. crap now I need to go look again. But that is what got me confused because it sure seems like there is alot more public land in those units.

So i just looked at the elk table in the nevafa mrs and there is some discrepancies in the public land numbers. For instance if you look at unit group 72, 73, 74; it shows 80% for any legal weapon, 58% for muzzleloader, and 27% for archery. All in the public land column. Is there a reason for this?

You're going to be very disappointed if you expect to get accurate data in the MRS. My advice is to double check everything.
