Looking into upgrading my pack. I currently own a Kelty - has served me well over the years but it's pretty beat up and it's time for a new one. I have done a ton of research and have narrowed it down to either the MR Crew Cab or Eberlestock J107. Any advice on which pack to choose?

I had the crewcab for 3 years and it is a great pack. Pretty much indestructible and very versatile. Ultimately, I sold it due to my torso length not allowing for proper angle on the load lifters. I have a 21" torso and the load lifters were below the top of my shoulders. Didn't bother me much on light loads, but heavier ones started getting to me. I bought extra straps and started running them over the top of my loads and that provided some lift on the shoulders for me but was kind of a pain in the load prep department. Here is an example of how I would rig it to make it work and an example without. Again note that I have a 21" torso so ymmv...Anything mystery ranch will be bomber. just make sure it fits you.

Thanks! I'm right at 6'1. I'm thinking I might just make the drive up to Bozeman to work directly with the guys at MR to make sure I get the right pack. Thanks again for the reply!

I was just at the MR office last week, and they have some great stuff! Going there would be the best option you would want. They will custom fit your pack, plus let you try it on with any amount of weight attached. Well worth the money! Ask for Mark.

I also own a MR crewcab. I love this pack. I also have a long torso. When I purchased my pack I ended up getting a larger size yolk than MR normaly suggests. I was lucky enough to have one of the MR guys do the fitting for me on the spot. I worked out great. I would really suggest going to MR or hooking up with them at a trade show.

Well, I made the drive up to Bozeman and picked up my MR Crew Cab, 3 load cells, and lid. Ryan hooked me up and helped size it to my torso. It fit all of my gear nicely and fits like a glove fully loaded. Can't wait to break it in this fall in the backcountry!
