Moving to Alberta

Hey

I'll be moving to Alberta this summer to do my PhD. I've bow hunted all over B.C.'s high country my whole life but never in Alberta. Anyone out there an Albertan willing to give me a little info on places to go or avoid??
I've been doing some research I think that packing into the Wilmore park area around Grand Cache for elk or mule deer.

Any info would be great.

consider yourself blessed to be moving to Alberta! There probably isn't any better diversity of opportunities anywhere. However, the numbers of elk in the mountains can be dreadfully low. And can take a lot of work to find them. The real great big ones are in the farmland. The mule deer hunting is amazing, where spot and stalk hunting as well as tree stand hunting are real good ways to bag a good one.you certainly want to establish residency as soon as possible, so that you can be involved in the hunting draws which come out in June. I will drop you a line later this summer when I get settled. I haven't figured out when I am moving yet so I will likely miss the draws this time around. I have been looking into hunting the high country around Gande Cache and the Wilmore wilderness area. I know the populations of animals aren't the same as in the farmlands, but I've never been a fan of hunting farms or private land. I know that I will likely have to get over that for whitetail, and pronghorn, but there is something about being the only one for miles on a mountain that I love.

Every hunt that mountain country? Anywhere in those foothills units?
