827.jpg We went out Sat morning and sat for 4 hrs during this ridiculous storm (22" of snow) saw 4 hens and 2 deer. Went back home for lunch and to snow blow out the dwy. HE insisted on going back out about 130pm, put a decoy out in the soybean field and at 3pm out of no where a tom showed up. The boy made an excellent 24 yd shot(20 gauge) on the tom, dropped him right there. 9" beard 25# bird, pretty sure he is still walking on air today at school. And also talking about his ability to fill my tag for me in a few weeks. Really happy camper! And a really proud dad. Thanks for all the advice on this post. Luke

I started with a 20 ga. It?s a great way to get him started. Even a 410 to start and work your way up.
