There has been and continues to be an unreal amount of negativity on the boards the past couple of weeks. It's not just a few hot topics that are fueling this culture, but appears to be rampant in general. Constructive criticism and opinions are now harsh and non-tactful. We need a good pick-me-up and or a good swift kick in the pants. :)
We no longer agree to disagree, it gets heated and personal. It's not fun here anymore.

Here's to hoping things improve. I want to talk hunt planning for 2015, hear success stories of 2014, and admire pictures of our God given right-hunting. O'yeah, hear about any new gun purchases. :p

What are folks thoughts on the new Ruger Predator Rifle (in green) that are now? I'm going to check one out at Cabelas soon. Not sure on what caliber I'd like to get yet. Creedmoor is tempting.

I looked at the specs on the rifle. I find it interesting that all calibers have a 22" barrel except for the .308 which is 18". Standard version has a 22" for the .308.

It's the lull between seasons ending and Spring green-up. It's like that on every hunting related forum with much activity right now. It'll get better when it warms up some and ppl get some vitamin D therapy.



That Ruger looks nice. Never been a fan of their triggers, but they will usually shoot. The 18" is for cutting length to add a suppressor (might be pre-threaded if that's the one I'm thinking of. Calling predators in close and shooting them with suppressed subsonics keeps from ruining spots with 1 pull of the trigger.

If this is a referral to anything I posted on the public lands issue:

I prefer "passionate advocation" to negativity, but if I came off as disrespectfull, I sincerely apologize. Public Land Management is a serious issue that affects hunters.

I hope all hunters can find common ground, both during the season and off.

On the Ruger, I prefer a little more tube on a bolt gun for varmints, myself, but I am sure it is a capable 'yote-stopper!

I am very comfortable with barrel lengths from 18-22 inches.
Issues for me are more about trigger pull, how functional the stock is, and the accuracy of said rifle for its purpose.
One thing I ran into with a Ruger stock like that (I call them tupperware stocks), is that the forend is flimsy enough that the forend can touch the barrel when torquing it when using a bi-pod. If these have been made stronger/stiffer, then I would be good with it.
6.5 Creed would be my personal favorite of the group.

Everyone should feel free to disagree, but not to ridicule, demean or get stuck hammering on the same sore point. I'm no softie and I don't mind kidding, but slamming people only detracts from the forum.

I think it has been a relatively recent problem and I am glad to see some sentiment for getting back to the very informative, helpful and fun forum that attracted so many of us.

Well said Bonecollector! And BB I read your post and I'm pretty sure it's not anything in that post, a little disagreement is OK I think. It's when people get real negative and won't let it go, most of you know what I'm talking about.

Going down to the boat this weekend to do some maintenance!! Ready to catch a few BlueFin and Yellowfin starting next month. Right now still coyote hunting.

Very well said! As hunters we need to respect everyone's view points and just accept the fact that everyone will have different opinions regarding controversial topics. After all our main mission should be to promote our sport in a respectable manner and congratulate everyone when they choose to share their harvest. Whether it's the buck of a lifetime or a doe to fill the freezer. As for gun related purchases, I look forward to upgrading scopes this year on my varmit gun. I'm thinking the vortex hst so I'm excited to get that in the next month or so!

Bonecollector, I have some criticism for you. I think the word you were looking for was MORALE, and not MORAL. MORALE is defined in my Funk & Wagnels as; "a sense of common purpose with respect to a group." If this had degenerated to a porn site, then I guess that the moral improvement would have been in order. By the way, JUST KIDDING, and you made a good suggestion. We can agreed to disagree, but always do so respectfully.

I agree with BC. But when a Federal Land issue is posted...it's going to be a hot-button issue, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure that the ability to hunt public land affects almost everyone on this forum. If I pissed anyone off with my comments, please accept my apology.

I agree with Bonecollector 100%. This forum should be a place for like minded friends to share stories and opinions. Threads that some might find controversial are ok for a few days, after that someone will bring politics into it and it's all downhill from there.
