I have a buddy that lives very close to there. He loves it. My hunting partner hunt elk near there too and he also wants to move there.

I have relatives there and I'm sure they were happy enough with the school system. I've always found the locals to be friendly when I visit. You won't be the first from California to move there. I don't believe the economy is growing much but it's not going too far backwards either. It looks like a real nice area if you have to live in the lower 48!

When we were looking here in Colorado for a new homestead, Montrose was on our shortlist. That was 17 years ago and it has grown a bunch since then. We didn't really look at schools as we didn't have any kids left at home. We were looking at land to build on, not something already done. Couldn't find what we were looking for. There are several gun ranges real close and of course great hunting & fishing. Delta is a much smaller town just a few miles north of Montrose.

My advice is burn some vacation and visit. Contact a realtor and get a feel for what is available and prices.

I retired in 2000 and moved here to SW Colorado from SoCal. Never looked back and love it!

I just moved to Montrose from FL and I can tell you it has been the best decision I have ever made. I have found the people to be friendly. If want to PM your phone number I can call you if you have any questions about Montrose.
