After reading a lot of reviews and forums I pulled the trigger on the angled Minox MD 50 and the Vortex High Country tripod. I think this will be fine for my November deer hunt in Montana. My first scope and tripod purchase. I hunt Whitetails in Mississippi and don't really need a spotter down here except at the range. I set it up on my conference room table and looked at door signs about 350 yards away. Very clear. Hope I made the right purchase for something I will scarcely use. Any thoughts?

I think for the price point the MD50 can't be beat. I bought a demo angled version from camerlandny.com and got a smokin deal.

I owned one for a while it took me about 20 minutes to realize im not a fan of 50mm spotters. Hate to be a hater but for me the fov really killed the enjoyment. Im used to the 65's and 80's and couldn't build a liking to the minox. I would find something in my binos and search and search to pull it up with the spotter. Different strokes for different folks hope you enjoy it. The image was very clear, just couldn't get used to the fov.

Congratulations on your new scope. I thought that I would only use a spotter out west or at the range until I had one. I started with a Leupold Sequoia and now use a Nikon ED50. Even for scouting whitetail in the Midwest I feel crippled without one. What I used to identify as a nice framed buck at a half mile I am now scoring as it feeds. It helps me identify the deer in my area so I don't make mistakes on young deer with great potential. I'd much rather shoot a lower scoring mature buck than a young one with an impressive rack that would be better next year. Don't discount it around home if you ever look more that a couple hundred yards while scouting, once you use it you will be amazed at what you see.

Have never owned one and have not used it yet so really don't know. I like the way it looks and it is very easy to adjust. Seems sturdy. I will be able to tell you more in about six weeks. I bought from Cameralandny.com.

I really like the Promaster 525T tripod and 6160 head from S&S Archery. I like how small it compacts while still being usable standing for a shorter guy with an angled scope, pretty lightweight also. I wish my ED50 was angled, but hindsight is 20-20.
