I just finished reading Mike's book on elk hunting. I have now read all of the books he has written and I am impressed with how much knowledge he has stored away over the years. I also like his matter of fact writing style. I would recommend reading his books if you haven't yet. Even a seasoned back country hunter will be entertained and take away information from these books.

I couldn't agree more with the above comments. I have all of Mike's books as well and have read all of them more than once. I will probably open a couple again this year before the season gets here.

Re reading the first mule deer book currently. Learn some new tactics each time I read it. Very helpful when switching from archery to later season hunts. Its a different ballgame for sure.

Mike does a great job. I especially like that his love for the animals he hunts comes through. You can tell by all the photography he does and the material he includes on understanding the game.

But, I am most impressed by how diligent he is in keeping a detailed record of what he sees, when, where, under what conditions, time of day and year, and so forth. I don't know anyone else that keeps that many notes.

When you get older you start having to write things down because your memory no longer keeps good track of things. But it's apparent Mike started a long time ago with his notes. What a treasure trove!

I have Mike's book Hunting Trophy Antelope - A DIY Guide and it's excellent. I consider it "the bible" on Pronghorn hunting. The DVD that comes with it is also very good. Like hardstalk said, the more I read it and watch the DVD, the more I learn.

There's so much information, you can't absorb it all in one reading.

All of Mike's books are great in my opinion. For anybody that is going on their first elk, deer or antelope hunt, I always highly recommend to get the associated book.

I have all of his books but have not read the antelope book. Have read parts of his latest muley book. Every one that I have read is great. I absolutely love the old stories. He could write a book on all of his and his Dad Gordon's hunting stories with a DVD showing old footage of thier hunts or wildlife in general and I would buy it in a heartbeat. fatrascal.
