As a service connected disability veteran, every Veteran's Day I think of the friends and relatives who are not here to share the memories with me. Life long friend Dick G., VN vet who passed last year, My Uncle Quint, WWll B17 Navigator, Hersh & Syl J., my boyhood heros, WWll Army vets and my Uncle Jerry, WWll Navy vet, (he is still with us but not doing well at all). All of these men fought to keep our country safe and preserve the freedoms which me and my family benefit today. My Dad belongs there too, but did not serve in WWll, as he had a critical job in the war effort and could not be spared. He was Superintendent of the P51 Mustang fighter manufacturing program at North American Aviation.

Thanks to all who gave their lives for us. God Bless the USA...... as my Cousin Lee Greenwood would sing. I am sure he will sign this many times today.

Thanks to all who have served.

This is always a somber day for me with much time spent thinking of those when lost everything to give me and mine the chance to live our lives free and in peace. My father and grandfather both served during wartime, are both gone, and neither got a chance to meet my children. I would give up my gun safe and every bit of equipment I own to spend and hour with them and my boys. Nonsense, I know, but something I think about every year on this day.

This is not nonsense my friend! I think about my friends and relatives as I mentioned in my post. I also think of my Dad and Grandfather on their birthdays and Fathers Day. My grandfather got to hunt with my son (his great Grandson), which was a blessing to both of them.

RIP 1/40 Cavalry 2006-2007 that laid at the Alter of Freedom, and protected my son in Iraq. America Never Forget and Leaves No Soldier Behind
