Meeting with NDOW to stop the use of hounds

There is an coming meeting with NDOW to discuss banning the use of hounds for bear hunting. I got a text message from a good friend that is a houndsmen over the weekend asking for everyone to show up and give there support in keeping the use of hounds.

He didn't know the exact details on when the meeting will be. As soon as I do I will post it.

As soon as you get that info please pass it on. We fought last year and it was supposed to be a five year no changes deal to actually see how the harvest is working. Damn bear league!

Will do. The Cal guys might as well give up with hounds if it passes. They won't have anywhere to go

They're still fighting over there, AB2205 will give individual counties the say on how bear hunting is done. I've been searching on the NDOW meeting and haven't found anything but I'll keep looking.

I've found one meeting scheduled April 11th for the wildlife committee. Its a continuation of the 3 year review of the bear hunt, read all the minutes of the January meeting and hounds were brought up but not on the table. The agenda for the April meeting doesn't say anything about hounds. Catherine Bricker is pulling out any unsupported skeem to try and stop this hunt, Carl Lackey is doing a great job of providing science based facts and studies which helps the hunt. Brickers is dead set on getting a public opinion based science study involved in determining the hunt. If I can find anymore info I will let you know.

Hopefully your state will have a better chance than ours did. Because if it happens in Nevada, I'm sure will spread even farther.

April 11th is all I've found, I've got a call into the lead bear biologist to try and get more info. I will post any info as soon as I get a call back.

Never heard back from the biologist but have been informed by 2 people today that Friday at 8:30am is the meeting. It will be at NDOW in Reno and word is they are voting on the use of hounds in the NV bear hunt. We need all sportsmen to help out in this fight. They aren't just against hounds, they want hunting taken away period.

For the people who want to be heard but can't make it you can find all the bear committee members email info on NDOW's website. This is just a start, they want the bear hunt stopped completely but will attack hounds and houndsmen first because we are a small majority in the hunting world. We all need to ban together as sportsmen and hunters to protect or heritage.

I just saw this thread. You need anyone who hunts anything with dogs to be there. Bird hunters think it cant happen to them but it can; just look at this crazy state right next door. They are trying to ban dogs for the use of any hunting; birds, mammals, nongame animals, everything. We are all on the same team whether we hunt bears or not

The Bear committee meeting has been cancelled this Friday, it is to be rescheduled but time and date is unknown.
