Worland WY
New to Wyoming, been here for about 2 months. In the past mostly hunting in AZ, I have been spoiled by Flat-line maps. Great unit specific maps. What are the best unit specific maps for Wyoming? I have spent some time online, but haven't found anything that really jumped out at me yet, and I really hate BLM and Forrest Service Maps. I have looked at the Wyoming atlas from DelLORME, but have not pulled the trigger on buying it yet. May be a good reference for pre scouting planning.

Also have heard some horror stories from friends antelope hunting on some of the mixed public/private land units about game wardens setting up decoys feet inside of private ground trying to entice people to shoot it. What GPS/chip would you guys recommend using. I currently have an etrex that I have had for years, so it is probably time to upgrade anyway.

I have some time as it takes a year to establish residency but I don't want to waste this year setting at home. Would love to get out and start learning many of the units in the area, so I will be prepared when I am able to start hunting again.

Thanks in advance for the advice, I appreciate it.

I used onx maps on my phone last year coupled with the mytopo gmu paper maps for the Big picture. It worked well for us. Depending on your needs backcountry navigator might be a good app to look into as well. It doesn't show landowner but it's got good topo layers and you can switch to usfs in the app to show trails,fs roads, and wilderness boundaries.
