IN looking at the topo maps to help pick a unit I had a few questions. The colored areas indicate who owns what but it doesn't say what is huntable and whats not. The blm I understand.

NF land- light Green- Huntable? Campable?
State Land- blue- is it huntable? campabe?
Wildlife management areas- dark green- same questions?

Green is National Forest- huntable, and campable, yes as long as there is access.
Blue is state land- huntable yes as long as there is access. Not allowed to camp on state land.
Wildlife management areas- each are different some allow camping, some don't. They should be huntable.

I used that map in 2012. There was plenty of places to hunt in the blue but most antelope hung out in the white.

***That can be a big problem even if there is plenty of public ground because game will tend to go where ag land and water is available and that spells private property, especially in these dought years out there.

Even if its all pasture and there is no difference in the public and private land they seem to know where you cant hunt! lol

Ha! that sounds like Ohio whitetails!!! they also know where the property line is! I think we found some private land in 21 to hunt (deer and goats) for a modest fee of course. 21 had some good public so that coupled with private should be a fun hunt. I plan on tent camping on blm is mainly why I asked. Looking at archery season now. Was planning on rifle but my buddy talked me into archery after seeing all his pics...(twisted my rubber arm) of course itll be a group desicision
