Could I of been so lucky? I just checked my CC and I have a pending charge for $300 from Arizona for a December coues deer hunt in 36c

I just put in for that unit as a chance to get it and am still pinching myself to see if it is true or not. I even went in and looked at my application and it did say 36c from 12/15/17-12/31/17.

Now I am headed to the store to buy a lottery ticket.

Nice! was it you that said a few days ago that you never get drawn unless you have max points?

I was down there last December with a tag and saw a lot of smaller bucks. I even thought that this would be the year to be down there and that is why I actually put in for the hunt again, thinking that I'd just get a point and not worry about it.

But noooooooo I had to draw the tag.

Now I just wished that the CDS dial would hurry up and get here for my scope that I have on my .25-06.

Well, after striking out during the draw it seems like I was able to pick up a leftover AZ deer tag. Unit 35b Coues for my hunt party this year. New unit for us so it should be a fun adventure.

What hunt did you get in 36b? If it is a late hunt I'll wave at you when I am on the top of the mountain looking for my coues.

Being 800+ miles away it is a little hard to do much research.

This is the same tag that I had last year and last year there were a lot of smaller bucks. I'm hoping that they grew some for this year. I'll be going back into the same area since I know know it a little bit better and I'll have a week to get a good respectable one onto the ground.

I have been doing a lot of shooting out the 500+yards for this upcoming hunt. And my last shooting session I was very happy with the results with about a 3" grouping at 529 yards. So my rifle is ready, my ammo is ready, and I am getting ready for the long trip down and the fun of the hunt.

Three more days and I'll be sitting in Arizona all prepped and ready to start hunting.

I am in the process of putting things into the suit case and travel box and my day pack. The rifle is sighted in for 250 yards and my practice out to 540 yards worked out quite well, the moa group that I shot at that distance should be sufficient to bag my quarry.
The vehicle is filled with gas and this afternoon I'll start packing it with what I am taking.

Come Sunday morning I'll head out and stop in Show Low, a 9 hour drive. Then onto Catalina and a friends house to spend the rest of Christmas day and then up at 5 am on Tuesday to head down to a meeting place where my partner will show up with his trailer and off to do some hunting.

Now if these days would just go as fast as they do when you are done hunting all would be well.

Sounds like a blast! With big game seasons pretty much over here, and having not picked up any new ducks since November 10th.... An Arizona Coues hunt sounds like a pretty darn good time right about now. Enjoy!

Thanks guys, I am now officially out of here. I'm hitting the hay early to get up early and head south like the birds do. I'm going to leave my home with the temperatures close to zero and head down where they are in the 70's.

It is going to be a great week coming up.
