In light of another horrible winter in the Gunnison,I'm wondering. Do you all think we could persuade the Co DOW to reinstate point banking? I'm finished dreaming about the unit 66 rut hunt I have been saving for. I jumped in the system in 2006. Like so many,I got caught up in it. Point creep. Waiting for an older age base of bucks in the unit. Praying for mild winters. The usual. Moving on. 2018 I'm burning the points in a different unit. Any hope of point banking making a comeback?

I wouldn't count your Gunnison hunt out just yet. Its not all that bad yet out there. My buddy saw a bunch of animals on the winter grounds 72 hours ago and they all looked good. All were scratching and eating with no real issues. He also said he some some monsters working their way up hillsides. If he says they were monsters then they are once in a lifetime type deer. If the spring snows say in the normal accumulation range then all will be ok.

No as for point banking........I wouldn't bet at all that it will ever come back......not enough data to support it or make it good for a big enough crowd.

Thats good to hear Slugz. Ive been over in 66 twice now. Scouting after we came down out of 67 from first rifle elk season. We are planning another trip for elk next fall. I was going to pass, but might go along. If fo no other reason than to get a look at things in 66 again. Fingers crossed that the spring storms don't put the cleaners to the herd.
