Well the time has come for me to go Lizard hunting tonight: I am sure pumped. Took me friend 6 years to get the tag. We are hunting an awesome unit with some Giants. A 900 pounder was killed a few weeks ago. Only 30 tags so I hope we get a giant dinasour. Won't be able to go for a few years since I am moving to wyoming. Pics and story to follow hopefully

Good luck! What zone did you get? I'm guessing zone 1. I can't draw now that they changed the system here in Alabama, but I've got 2 points in GA so hopefully I'll get to go again soon. I know the guy who guides on Lake Eufaula and caught the lake record last month. He actually has the #1 and #2 on the lake. He caught a bob-tailed 12' 3" 700 pounder last weekend. He's a gator catching machine! But he's been doing it since seasons 1st opened up in Florida in '87 so he should be good at it lol.

Yea he got zone 1a which is just Eufala. Are you talking about redneck1 on the GON forum. He catches some Giants. Between me and my friends we can hunt every year from now on.

Wow. That is something I really want to do someday.

I don't know how you fellers do it, but I've seen videos of them being caught with heavy duty bow fishing rigs.

Good luck and don't fall in!

Yep, catching gators is what I've been doing for the past week also. I wish I was chasing bugling bulls instead, but I didn't draw any sept. tags. Got to take my nephews on Labor Day, the crew had a good time. image.jpg

I'm not sure I've never been on that forum. His name is Mike, he lives in Eufaula and guides on the Eufaula and southeast zones in Alabama: Zones 1 and 2 in Georgia. His name isn't officially listed as the hunter but he has guided those hunts. I'll be honest we've never had any luck with bows. We've hit some but if you hit them in the scutes or head it just bounces off. Those gators aren't like the private land ones on the hunting shows in Florida. They will rarely give you a shot, so we use 12-0 treble hook with 150lb line on a heavy casting rod. Good luck! I'm so jealous, alligator hunting is a blast! Don't go through the refuge all those 12-13 footers might tempt you lol. They know where the safe zone is.
