I appreciate all the feedback, I get what yours saying about the AR mallard but I?m just not into those rifles. I?m kinda old school I guess. The coyotes are not the main reason I want one, just a reason. If I really want to go kill a coyote I have my 25-06 that does a number on them. It?s not real likely I will be running into another cougar anytime soon either, the one I shot was the first one I?ve ever had a shot at in nearly 45 years of poking around in the woods.
I feel the same way. Not a big fan of the guns. I was purely looking at the price-point. I would much rather walk around with a "Gentleman's Henry" in my hand any day just like you lol

Henry is the way to go. I have a Varmint Express 17 hmr and love it. It is better suited to scoped shooting so I would look at another model from Henry. Great made rifle and fun to shoot. The 17 I have is very accurate , I put some rounds down range at about 300 yds and was very surprised at accuracy.
22 mag would also be a great rifle and more options from Henry in that caliber.

Hope you enjoy it! Lever action rim fires are just plain fun to shoot.
Henry will also take care of you if any issues come up.
Might want to get a spare magazine tube though, they can fly out of your hand while loading or unloading, lol.

It’s been a few years now, I still pack the .22mag all the time. I haven’t shot a coyote or cat with it yet but I’m hoping that happens some day. 43529
Me and the .22 mag get along so well I decided to buy the Long Ranger .243 for hunting Blacktails. I just got the 2.5x8 Leupold screwed in it the other day. I should be burning some powder with it soon!

.17hmr is a very poor choice for coyotes They fail to penetrate well. I have had multiple occurrances whereas the 17 exploded on the ribs and failed to penetrate. From five feet to 50 yards.
