Thanks for the comments, I plan on giving archey tackle a try this year, I haven't commited to that before for Mule deer. I am one more year away from the rifle tag I want. Archery is OTC for muleys in most areas of Oregon too. I haven't put the effort into it due to the fact that the time of year that I bow hunt elk. But I have come to the conclusion that I need to focus on the Muley hunting if I want to get it done. If a few more years go by without success, I may have to broaden my horizons. MT could very well be in my future!

Man, those are some nice Blacktails. I just moved to Washington State from Missouri, and finding a dear with any kind of size to it has been TOUGH. Lots of little tiny forkies and that is all I saw last year. I'm on a STEEP learning curve, that is for sure.

It is good to know they are out there... somewhere. Good job all.

Here is a picture of my buddies Blacktail, taken from Zone B-6. It made the BC club, can't recall the exact score (I believe 145 points).

Here is my scrub from the same area, he busted up his left side tines, when he crashed into the rocks after the shot!!

Nice! My B Zone buck was not so impressive, but I was glad to get him with this heat up here!

BSA,
I love the time line. That is really cool. I have a good idea where to find a big this year near my house.

Looking at these makes me feel lazy for not going after the bucks in Western Oregon. I live 20 minutes from some of the best Blacktail hunting in the west, but I don't like hunting the brush. I already committed to getting up there this year and getting after them. Now I am even more excited.

Timberstalker,
I remember your tidbit from awhile back!! I will be putting in for that 2nd choice tag next year.

ttt, don't get in a hurry this fall. The good hunting isn't till the last week as you probably know. My youngest drew the High Cascade this year, second choice, we will be stomping around the burn area up high Sept 7th. You never know she may gun down that big ol Muley!

Those Cali bucks sure look a lot different than the Oregon rain forest bucks I grew up hunting, very nice!

Not yet, we could only hunt the weekend, we will be back at it in the morning. We did hear plenty of shooting though, so there must be some bucks there.....we just didn't see any.
