I Picked up a Wyoming antelope unit 30 tag a few days ago. I have never hunted Wyoming or Antelope for that matter. I heard from one local that the antelope population is way down. I'm worried that I picked a bad year to hunt unit 30. Someone please tell me I'll be fine.

I was first time hunter there last fall and saw plenty of antelope in places I could not hunt. Be sure to apply for HMA Duncan ranch. That was where I saw a few I could hunt. It was late in the season and I knew little about the area but I saw few in places I could hunt. I would try to have some contacts first.

Thanks Kentuckyhunter! I applied to Duncan Ranch yesterday. Hopefully I get the permission slip. Did you end up harvesting any?

My dad and I each had 30 type 1 and 6 as well as 31 type 1 and 6. We each got a small buck in 31 and my dad got a doe in 31 all on state land. I missed a doe in 31 and my dad missed a doe in 30. Five total shot opportunities and filled 3 of 8 tags. Its hard not to call that a success, but my expectations were a bit higher. I wouldn't go back to 30 unless I hunted early season and had already made some arrangements with landowners--not sure how easy that is?

I haven't had much luck with the land owners yet. Most of them are not allowing people to hunt because the antelope population is way down from years past. I'll hunt hard and see what happens.
