Im considering these leftover units for deer 18,28,37,371. Anyone know anything about them for 2nd season? I know a lot about units 7,8,9,19,191 and unit 67 if you need intel. Thanks
The deer success rates are extremely low in 371 for second rifle (12 bucks for 181 hunters). I think this is because many of the deer have migrated out by that time. Eagles Nest is pretty high and rugged. You would probably have better success in the other units which you can hunt with that tag. Checkout the NW Region Hunt Guide. http://wildlife.state.co.us/SiteCollectionDocuments/DOW/Hunting/BigGame/HuntGuides/NWHuntGuide.pdf
Thanks for that info. I struck out in 28 scouting. I did find some logged area which game trails I may try sitting over. I'm not looking for a giant, just a good experience.
I know some decent bucks come out of unit 37 in the area across Highway 9 from Green Mountain Reservoir. I haven't personally hunted there but guys from work talk about it. I know of a place in 28 as well that can be good for deer weather dependent. Shoot me a P.M and I will help you out.
These are my home units that I have been hunting since 1988. These units are very weather dependent but there are some nice bucks for those who work for them. I can give you some advice if you want. Just send me a PM and I will help you out.
I've spent more time than I should have in the southern portion of 37. Saw 2 bucks and a handful of does. I was way back in, and not sure I'd do it again. I'm moving to 28.
