I was not one of the lucky ones to draw a elk or a deer tag.Would love to see pics and hear the story behind the hunt.Congrats to all that drew and had a great time in the woods.

Easiest way to post pics is through Photo bucket. Set up a free account. Upload your pics to photo bucket. Open pic in photo bucket. Bottom right of pic you will see an I with a circle around it. Click the I. Then click the IMG URL. Then click copy. Then go to the post at the forum and click where you would type in your story. Then paste pic. That's it. Sounds like a lot but when you get the hang of it you will be posting pics left and right.

Picked up this bugger the last weekend in November. Was told by many it took cold weather to get um moving and it did. Many guys were at it for a week or so, but being more of a meat guy I popped this one one day one pushing some does. Deer were much lower than they were during the summer....no surprise given some snow in the high country. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357268259.618984.jpg

Thanks, It was archery. A30. Fair amount of pressure which surprised me, but fun hunt nonetheless. strongly suggest you pick up a map or GPS chip of public vs private if you ever do this hunt as much of the public land us posted with no trespassing signs.

Nice buck, like you I got mine at the end of the season. Weather is what made the difference, as soon as it cooled off the deer became active. Until that point, nothing. Again, congrats on a nice buck.

I drew the A30 tag 2 years ago it was a great hunt. The first half of the hunt was hvery warm not much action.I was camp high up on the mtn in a tent. The second half it dumped a bunch of snow i had to move camp down to the campground by the store. It was hard to hunt the do to the public land signs were not any where to be found.I have a gps now and i am going to get the chip. One of the other hunters at the campground had one and helped me find the public land.Did not stick a deer but saw some great bucks and had a great time

Picked this guy up on the last day of the D5 season east of Sheep Ranch, best part was my 10 year old son was with me for the first time. He's hooked, and he just got his first deer rifle for Christmas.2012 deer 6.jpg2012 deer 5.jpg2012 deer 8.jpg2012 Deer 4.jpg

Potsie,

That wasn't an elk it was a 6 x 6 blacktail! When I saw him he was standing in the middle of the road on Patick's Point Point road heading towards the hiking trial on the south side of the park entrance.

Sorry my mistake there is alot of elk up there.A6x6 blacktail that is awesome i wish you had gotten a pic of him.The most points on a blacktail is a 5x5 that my best friends dad has killed he has killed 4 5x5s.Hopefully you can get a pic of him
