Awise1, thanks for posting this article! It's to bad because California does have some great resources, but with the all the restrictions by the non hunters most of have us have just gone out of state. To the non use of dogs for the bear hunters, to not keeping the mountains lions in check. Mr. Moonbeam doesn't have a clue on how to manage our great resources!

It is indeed a pretty sad & grim situation in California. As a life long, 4th generation Californio, who left the state almost 16 years ago, I have seen the good turn to bad. Starting with the total protection of lions, things have gotten progressively worse. The deep water rockfishing I used to enjoy off the southern & central California coast is gone, marine sanctuaries have limited the ocean fishing opportunities and the ban on lead ammunition have made hunting & shooting more expensive. I remember the 50's & 60's when we had great hunting and fishing that rivaled anyplace in the lower 48. Pretty sad indeed....................

Sorry to hear this. I'm not well versed on CA DFW or Commission, but it sounds like a bad time for CA hunters and wildlife, without equal representation.
Hopefully somewhere down the road, hunters will get the credit for being conservationist. They deserve a lot of credit, for willingly funding wildlife and habitat for game species. Through sound science, regulated hunting, habitat projects, license dollars, PR tax dollars etc., wildlife as a whole has prospered to be enjoyed by hunters and non-hunters alike. Hopefully for CA they will get back to science based management, recognizing hunting as a management tool and the huge funding source that it is.

Unfortunately this is the way things seem to be trending in our country. This is particularly true when it involves the feds.

MoonBeam couldn't even manage Little Linda Ronstadt, much less California's resources.

It's DAMM unfortunate, California has, Tule elk, Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule deer, Blacktail Deer, Black bear, Mountain lion, Big Horn Sheep,Wild Hogs, not mention some of the best waterfowl hunting. Yet MoonBeam doesn't have a clue to manage these great resources like other states! Hell, why not have a lottery to be able hunt lions! Let the hounds men use there dogs to hunt bears. We do have a points system for choice mule deer areas, and to hunt elk and sheep! Venting!

Matt, thanks, I forgot we also have wolves now exactly in a location of an elk herd! One thing they may be proposing is banning fly fishing! Those dam lines are getting in the way go the endangered flying yellow bodied roostertail bee!

Those bees sound like they're as hard to find as the yellow haired red breasted mattress smashers we searched for back when I was in my twenties.
