Went out earlier today and got some footage of where a hot doe has to be.

There were 12+ bucks in the area and it is amazing how many the one wide guy fought off. Also interesting how nice he was to that spike who wanted to spar... A couple of the bigger bucks never even got up.

All the bucks could barley keep their eyes open with the moon it must have been a long night for em.

Anyway kinda long but some cool end of rut action from today. Click the link below to see the video.

Very cool video. I've often observed this kind of behavior after the rut. The bucks are not really too aggressive and the big guys seem to tolerate the smaller bucks. A month ago it would have been a different story. Now they all seem to just get along, resting up for the winter to come.

I did not get any video but did get a few stills from years past.

That right there is one of the main reasons I closely monitor the timing of second estrus animals that didn't get bred. 1st rifle elk and late season deer can produce some rutting action and herding up. If the conditions are right.

Thanks guys. It was a fun way to end the year and with literally 6- 8 feet less snow this year than last year at this time they are still going at it. Looking to be a easier winter at this point but still a long ways to go and that is a good thing with as many as we lost in last year's winter.
