Hunted the LaSal Mountains about ten years ago for mule deer. I see it is still a general season there for archery. Is this an over the counter tag or is it a draw for non-residents? As I recall it was a draw years ago but we never failed to draw this tag, is it still a pretty good percentage to draw? How is the deer herd in this area?

All of Utah's deer tags are draw only and usually go the first go around.

Without looking at the odds report I can't say how easy it would be to draw.

The deer herd if growing, I was just through that area today and the snow is melting down low very quickly so the deer should be in good shape.

I do a cow elk hunt there every year and have seen some very nice mule deer. The guide told me (FWIW) it takes several years to draw or several thousand to buy a tag.

I don't know where your guide is getting his info at but if you look at the draw odds on Utah DOW web site you will see that you just need 1 point for a any weapon hunt and archery is one point for the best chance at a tag. Even those with 0 points are drawing those tags but the odd go up some.

Now if you are talking about a CWMU for a resident or a non resident purchasing a hunt then you need a few points or the money to hire a outfitter.

He likely just doesn't want to have to deal with me twice in a year...[emoji23]
