There are good deer in the area, just like all states, not all areas within the state are equal in terms of quality.

Might be something to look into.

What kind of hunting are you mostly wanting. If MD, I'd also consider the Tx Panhandle and transpecos region as landowners with good size tracts can usually get into the MLD program. A cpl buddies of mine have ranches, 1 outside of Fort Stockton, the other outside of Childress and the one at FT Stockton gets gets roughly 30 MD doe permits & 8-12 buck permits to go along with 60 or so whitetail permits (also shoots the occasional 320-360" bull & aoudad). Buddy outside of Childress gets roughly 80 WT permits and a handful of MD permits, but has less acreage and better grazing/crop land.

Mainly MD and place to raise some cattle and retire when Im ready. Ill buy it now and have it started buy the time Im able to retire.
