Greeting all,

I have an older 50 cal Knight DISK. It uses the original DISK 209 primer ignition system (orange). The barrel is kinda short... under 26" for sure.

My question is... does anyone know when were those rifles being manufactured and the rate of twist on those barrels?

Thanks in advance.

Most .50 cal are going to be 1:28 for the rate of twist.

But for the life of me I don't know what a idles is?

Knight rifles are made here in the US last I heard.

Looking around in my storage shed I found this rifles original box. Turns out that it is an original Knight Disc Deluxe with a 22" barrel. Possibly made late 90's early 2000s.

More that likely a 1:28 rate of twist. I just need to figure out what bullets to use for my possible Colorado elk hunt.

For elk the only bullet I consider out of a muzzle loader is the 300 grain Thor.

You start out with a sizing pack to determine the exact bore diameter. You can purchase the sizing pack from Thor or Muzzleloader.com if you want to go with them.

On my ML elk hunt in 2014 I hit the elk 3 times and recovered one bullet at 120 yards shooting them. All three were kill shots but as anyone knows that when hunting elk you keep shooting until they are on the ground.

I have a Knight BK92 (made in 1992) and it has a 1:28 twist. Would assume the same if you can't find a concrete answer somewhere.

Called Knight customer service and the highly recommended the Federal BOR Looked bullets. I'm ordering some to try them out.

Has any one had any experience using PowerBelt bullets on elk?

Hunters have used Powerbelt's but from what I have read most try to avoid them due to their fragile construction. But elk have been killed with them.
