I was looking at getting a 8 man tipi and found a company called seek outside. the seek outside is a little bit less money, but I am not sure if the quality is as good as kifaru. We are only talking about a roughly 10% difference in price. I do have a kifaru 4 man tipi now. Anyway how good are the seek outside tipi's? should I just stick with the kifaru since I own one already?

When I started looking at the stoves, I think the kifaru stove is a better design. The seek outside, the door slides, where on the kifaru the door is on hinges. The kifaru large stove is way bigger than the seek outside large stove. So if you compare the kifaru medium stove it is more the size of the seek outside large stove. So that makes the price even more similar when comparing apples to apples.

I really like my 4 man and don't see me getting rid of it. But I will keep you in mind if I do ever sell it.

I have heard good things about seek outside. I have a friend with one but just got it. I looked at smaller 6 person tipi's but both Kifaru and seek outside were more than I wanted to pay. I went with Bearpaw wilderness designs but mine is just a 6 person. Saved about $150. They don't make an 8 man.

This is the sort of thing that there's not going to be too many people who have owned both. They are a pricy tent, and with the stove become more so. I have the 8 man Kifiru with the SS stove. Have only used it once in 8 years, but it worked well for a 2nd season elk hunt in Colorado for three guys. The tent material is very durable, lightweight, and waterproof. I don't know if I'll ever use it again as my hunts are now backpack for deer and guided for elk. Make an offer I can't refuse.

I really like my S.O. 8 man. It is great for later season trips when you might be staying for a while with a buddy or 2. It is also great for trips with the family as well. SO makes a great product with a few features I really like. It has a sod skirt which prevents most bugs/critters from entering. It also has a storm flap over the zippers to prevent water entering through the zippers. I don't think you can go wrong with either tipi but these features and price point were what made my final purchase desicion.

Sod skirt is 3 inches of extra fabric on the bottom of the tipi. It helps prevent any drafts blowing inside as well as snow or rain. It does cut down on airflow though, which leads to more condensation. This is easily fixed with the use of a stove and/or keeping the vent open. I also keep the top few inches of the door unzipped. It helps let any bugs out and ventilate. Bugs will always work their way to the top of a shelter and the opening let's them escape.

I am interested in your tent. What condition is it in? I have been wanting something like the Kifaru but cant justify the full price. I currently hunt in a canvas tent and with the stove and together they are over 120#. Looking for something more portable. If you are still interested in selling it let me know. I archery hunt in Colorado and spend most of September in the high country. I like having a place to dry my gear and get out of the weather. Sounds like a nice setup.
