CC, can you say if any of the bucks you saw were starting to exhibit rut behavior? Although I was elk hunting I am always looking for deer. The deer I saw were all does, and there was not a single buck hanging around them. I even had a visit with the local CPW guy and he was kind of bewildered that there were very few bucks being seen anywhere, and the bucks that were seen were not showing any rut activity yet. I saw 1 set of tracks that I figured were made by a buck, and another hunter told me that 1 of his party saw a real whopper, but I decided long ago that whenever I hear a story like that, until I actually see the buck it's just a fish story. I had started to think about burning my points on a 4th season buck tag in the unit I was in, but not now based on what I saw there.
