It does hold a lot of elk but it is big country. Also a lot of the wilderness is incredibly steep. A few years ago while deer hunting there with my son I talked to a couple of guys who were elk hunting. I pointed out 2 big 6pt bulls but they didn't want ot go after them because of the two ridges and canyons between us and them. As the crow flies it was only about 2.5-3 miles but they figured it was impossible.

Nothing is impossible in my book if you have the will to succeed.
