Looks like it was a pretty good 1st season here in the SW part of the state. I know quite a few hunters who got their elk, deer and bear. I personally attribute it to the snow on opening weekend. I also saw lots of hunters leaving with elk racks in their rigs. From what I've heard, lots of bears this year.

I'll post anything about 2nd season when I know about it. Still plenty of snow in the high country, but some melting due to warmer weather. Lots of new hunters in town as this is the first otc hunt of the year.

Most of our crew arrived in Gunnison yesterday and they're already seeing elk in the low country. May shape up to be a good hunt for them.

Five of us headed to Powderhorn tonight! Three of us have 67 Deer tags, the other two have 54 OTC either sex elk. Good luck everyone! Be safe, have fun!

Just looked at the long range weather and looks like cool and dry for the rest of second season and start of third. Lots of the early snow is going away too, here in the sw part of the state. Was in Buena Vista for a few days (just got back yesterday) in OH's stomping grounds. Snow going away there too. Had some snow showers on Friday, but pretty spotty and really light.

Had to pick up a chair I odered from a local Mfgr (Steel Strike) that makes wonderful leather furniture. Nice country.

Old Hunter. You might want to back up a bit and go easy with the liar BS. In my circles it's a running joke that a story isn't real unless we see pictures. Drink some scotch and don't be an ass.

Not being an ass. Lots of guys don't believe without pictures. It's bull.

I should go out of my way to take pictures for some forum assclown, or they don't believe me? Not going to happen.

Sort of a pet peeve of mine. Just so you know.

Old Hunters, It's all good I guess. Don't like being called a liar or for that matter a forum assclown. :) I don't take enough pictures. It amazing what we see as hunters out in the woods. Sitting on a ridge watching the sun come up over the mountains with a bear feeding below you. And that's just one morning in the woods.

I think old hunter was a good guy but very opinionated and set in his ways and he cams across very poorly in many of his posts and he liked to stir the pot when there was really no reason for it.

I liked him too and he did have a lot to add to the threads but ya he takes things to far.

Let's get this thread back on topic, sorry CC

Too bad. Liked his insight on a lot of subjects. But IMHO, the real reason for this forum is to exchange ideas, experiences and help other hunters with their questions. We all don't have the same expectations, but we should have the same respect for each other.
