I agree with Scott. I've deer hunted Colorado for many years and I've underestimated several. It is always a pleasant surprise to walk up on a buck after the shot and find he was bigger than you thought. One thing about these big bucks is that they are generally loners and are sometimes hard to judge without other deer around them. The bodies and heads can be quite large. My partners and I have taken a few that would field dress over 300 lbs. I guess this to be the case with this big buck. Even after all these years, I still get fooled once in a while.
