Hey everyone! I've been reading ebj and ehj for about a year now. I was introduced to hunting through my job as a firefighter. Bought a 15 yr old alpine bow and lucky enough to shoot a p & y whitetail buck my first year. Have been hooked ever since. In 4 years of bowhunting I have been lucky enough to take antelope, deer and turkeys with my bow. I recently upgraded to a Mathews helim. I had planned on going with a friend from work to co for otc archery elk this fall and he drew a Wyoming elk tag. I am on here and archery talk trying to get as much input as possible into pulling off a diy
backcountry elk hunt. Thanks.

Wow, that's quite a few. I have thought it would be an awesome job, closest fulltime to me is Fargo, they have quite a waiting list I've heard. Good luck on the hunt, I won't be to much help as I'm fairly new to the western hunting.

Ya it's pretty sweet. What part of mn are you from? I've looked at black bear hunts in mn and it might be possible this year if Colorado falls through.

30 miles east of Detroit Lakes, Wefest town. Highway 10 runs right through New York Mills, some bear south of town, but not to many yet. Go 30 minutes north there are quite a few. I was kinda looking into wyoming spring bear hunt .

Welcome RC Fire. And nice bow upgrade. I shot one when they came out and loved the draw cycle. I am on AT as well, but not very active over there these days.

Welcome rcfireninja. Thanks for the introduction and thanks for your service. My son's working towards being a fireman, and it is an awesome service you all provide for us.

Sounds like you have a awesome hunt ahead with that archery elk hunt. Hope you have an awesome and successful hunt.
